Making yourself understood in a different language can in itself already present quite a challenge, but to tackle bureaucracy in another language even more so.  Combine bureaucracy and insufficient knowledge of the language or culture you're dealing with, and you've got a recipe for disaster.

Making sense of all the paperwork required to purchase a property, to import a car, to get a quote from a builder, to get your utilities connected, to apply for residency and many other matters can be complicated without the necessary knowledge but it's pretty straightforward if you speak the language.
